Tell the truth, consequences be damned!

The truth shall set us free!

Remember the "golden rule"?  No, no, not "He who has the gold makes the rules!"  The other one!  "Treat others as you would have them treat you!"  Even better "Love your neighbor as yourself".  That's my favorite. The point is a lot of otherwise fabulous people have cognitive dissonance and it is a painful condition to emerge from if you have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to boot! This type of victims with cognitive dissonance is under the influence of powerful forces beyond their control and understanding.  If your yard sign is too "in your face" it may not get beyond the mental fortress erected by the cognitive dissonance in the PTSD person.  To catch this person you have to be factual, not overly emotional.  The goal is to provide enough repeat exposure to the facts that victims in our  nation can overcome the disorder on a large scale.

A person with cognitive dissonance will see a 'collapse" here, when obviously their eyes are seeing explosive force.  Meanwhile, the mind is retrieving all the information from previous propaganda and is unable to reconcile it with the visual clues.  The person will ignore the visual input and rely on the "belief" or the emotional attachment to a perceived truth, especially if it was laid down through careful propaganda mechanisms like the "nightly news" or the Discovery Channel or even Popular Mechanics.  You can look a person with cognitive dissonance in the eye and almost see the conflict of emotions and rational thought.  The eye balls will be slightly off center and tilted up to the right, as if in a thinking, emotive or memory retrieval phase.
